Augmented Reality App
One of Bio-Rad’s more impressive products is a table-top laboratory about the size and shape of a cat carrier. The CFX is able to take a segment of RNA or DNA and duplicate it millions of times using a process called PCR (Polymerized Chain Reaction). BioRad wanted to showcase their device’s many features--but in particular, its portability--using an app that could be played on just about any smartphone or tablet.
In answer, we came up with the Biorad Augmented Reality App. Once you’ve downloaded the app to your iPad or smart phone and opened it, you tap the “place model” icon and a virtual 3D model of the product inserts itself into your device’s video display of your immediate surroundings. If you happened to run a medical lab, you could explore different places to situate the device—not that it needs a lot of space.
Once you’ve decided on a location, you can tap on hot spots of the image to get more information about some of the mini-lab’s key features. You can even break through its outer casing to poke around the workings inside—something you couldn’t do even if you had the actual device in front of you.
Bio Rad made a great product, and we made a fun app to explore it, but more importantly, it’s an indispensable tool for Bio Rad’s sales reps
