You probably know that GE is one of the world’s largest multinational conglomerates, manufacturing an array of industrial wares from jet engines to massive drill bits for oil rigs. But one of their less-known divisions makes industrial control systems—including those that manage most of the world’s hydroelectric dams.
GE asked us to help them develop a web-based interactive game to demonstrate the challenges of maintaining a reliable output from these systems. Players are tasked with managing the power supplied to a small town from a nearby hydroelectric dam. Faced with rain storms, droughts, unruly turbines and townsfolk wielding pitchforks and flaming torches, balancing supply and demand of this vital resource isn’t always easy—but it is kind of fun when it’s only a game.
The SCADA game not only captures the attention of players, but subtly demonstrates how important GE is in the day-to-day lives of people all over the world, whether they know it or not.
We’ve worked with some of the best. While TBA Digital most often provides its services to multinational companies in the healthcare sector, our clients have been known to make everything from microscopes to dog biscuits. Some are purely retail and others are industrial giants whose products can only be moved with a crane. Almost all of them came to us with the need to reach a particular market segment with a unique product or service.
